Pre-Facilitation Preparation:
  • Initial Consultation: Meet with key leaders or stakeholders to understand the organization’s current status, goals, challenges, and the scope of the strategic planning session.
  • Research & Background: Gather relevant data, organizational history, and current performance metrics to inform the strategic discussions.
  • Customized Agenda Creation: Develop a structured agenda based on the organization’s unique needs, including activities like SWOT analysis, goal-setting, and future visioning.
Facilitation Process:
  • Opening Session: Set the context by reviewing the organization’s mission, vision, and current status. Establish ground rules and create a collaborative environment.
  • SWOT Analysis: Lead the group in identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to give a comprehensive view of the internal and external factors impacting the organization.
  • Goal Setting: Guide the group in identifying key strategic goals, both short-term and long-term. Use facilitation techniques to encourage discussion and prioritize objectives.
  • Action Planning: Work with the group to create concrete, actionable plans, including timelines, milestones, and responsible parties for each goal.
  • Resource & Risk Assessment: Facilitate discussions on resources needed to achieve the goals (budget, staff, etc.) and potential risks that could hinder progress.
  • Consensus Building: Ensure all participants agree on the plan and understand their roles in moving the organization forward.
Follow-Up:
  • Provide a comprehensive strategic plan document summarizing key goals, action steps, and accountability measures.
