As a facilitator, Sarah has worked for a variety of groups over the last ten years in Vancouver and the Bulkley Valley including school districts, politicians, doctors, community groups, First Nations, businesses and different levels of governments. She has led diverse teams, built trust, and engaged in complex dynamics with multiple stakeholders and interests in order to solve problems and find solutions. MUSIC AND ART
From her early twenties, Sarah has played original songs in many coffee shops, clubs and music festivals. She has written over 75 songs and is currently working on her fourth album www.sarahnorthcott.com/music.html. She is also an abstract painter and has been using a unique process with polymer gel; her work has been showcased in galleries in Whistler, North and West Vancouver, Vancouver, Smithers, Terrace and Sweden (IG: sarahnorthcott_art). TEACHER /EDUCATOR
Sarah is a teacher. She has worked with homeless kids to mid-career adults, teaching in elementary schools, high schools and university. She created and taught a course called ‘Strategies for Sustainable Communities’ for UBC’s Sustainability Management Program in the Department of Continuing Studies. She continues to teach part-time and enjoys the magic of working with children.
ENTREPRENEUR/PROJECT MANAGER
Sarah worked as a Project Manager on the award-winning Challenge Series project. This project was a series of publications that focused on the creation of the Olympic Village; from history and policy to green technology and innovative design. She co-created the original concept and her role was project manager and writer through to its final publication. She hired and managed a team of people as well as interviewed a variety of people including planners, architects, developers, government officials, designers to record their involvement with the building of the Southeast False Creek Olympic Village. Each stakeholder had a different perspective which she needed to consider. She also created a sponsorship program to raise the money to fund the project.
Sarah was a founding partner of KASE Connections which offered professional development, team building and leadership training in sustainability. She created and led workshops to assist organizations in creating their own vision and strategic goals in order to become sustainability leaders in their field. Sarah worked with businesses and local governments providing advice on planning process indicators.
